Legislative Session The SDSMA fights for physicians and patients at the State Capitol during the legislative session and meets with legislators during the interim. For Get Involved Remember, effective political action is a local activity. Get involved with your District Medical Society and get to know your senators and representatives . That way, they'll recognize your name and voice when you write or call them at the state capitol or in Washington, DC. The SDSMA offers several ways for physicians to advocate for the issues they care about in their communities and at the Capitol.
