Tell South Dakota Lawmakers: Cuts to Medicaid Reimbursements Threaten Access to Care!
In his fiscal year 2012 budget address on January 19, South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard proposed a 10 percent cut to Medicaid provider reimbursements, compared with the 5 percent cut proposed last December by former Governor Mike Rounds.
Governor Daugaard expressed his desire to eliminate South Dakota’s $127 million structural deficit in one year, with major cuts across the board. That includes the 10 percent cut in provider reimbursements, which translates to a $30 million cut to Medicaid provider payments in fiscal year 2012.
SDSMA leadership is working to convince our elected officials that a 10 percent Medicaid provider reimbursement cut is an action that’s penny-wise but pound-foolish. But the voices of our physician members need to speak directly to lawmakers, too.
We need you to tell lawmakers how a 10 percent cut would affect you and your practice. Lawmakers and Governor Daugaard need to hear your voice.
