- NBS UPDATE FROM SD HEALTH DEPT.
Kayla Tinker reported that the rules and revisions have not yet been completed. There is a meeting on March 22nd to propose that 30+ screenings be mandated by the state of SD for all newborns. We should know more by mid-summer.
- SMOKING CESSATION TRAINING
Several institutions are still in need of training on the 5 A’s. Mary Lerssen will contact Darcy Ellefson and request a short presentation to our committee and also the full training to health providers.
- EXHIBITS
The March of Dimes Mission information was present at the SDSU Student Health Fair and Avera Perinatal Conference in February. They had good attendance and went well overall. A suggestion was made for a visual technology idea to entice participants to visit the booth and learn more in a short amount of time. Mary Lerssen will call the National office with this suggestion and committee comment.

Our Ambassador mother is Staci Korsmo of Sioux Falls. She is the mother of twin boys, Caleb and Colin, born at 32 weeks. Her story and pictures were shared with the members present at the meeting.
