  2. RECRUIT WEST RIVER COMMITTEE MEMBERS
A forefront goal is to recruit committee members from Rapid City/West River area.  All committee members were asked to wear their MOD hat and keep this in mind when conversing and collaborating with such individuals.  Some ideas to overcome distance barriers and create further inclusion of all members at committee meetings were:

    • Utilize Technological advances such as Distance Learning
    • Meet twice a year at Cedar Shore in Chamberlain, SD for late afternoon meeting an/or dinner to create a sensible distance for most all members.

Any assistance from committee members with access and/or organization of advanced technological opportunites would be greatly appreciated.

  1. COMMUNITY EDUCATION
In discussing the delivery of “The Pregnancy Workshop” and other education     materials, the idea of contacting both Bright Start and Early Head Start was discussed. Mary Lerssen is going to contact Karen Dover (Bright Start) and the committee is also interested in locating a local Early Head Start Member.

    • Smoking Cessation – The 5 A’s have been delivered to Avera McKennan.  We need to check on Sioux Valley, McGreevy Clinic and Rapid City to see that the program has been delivered.
