The SDSMA staff is dedicated to meeting the needs of members and carrying out the directives of the Council.  Click here to contact us with any requests.

Executive Office

The Executive Office staff provides for the overall management of SDSMA and its staff. This office provides staff support to the Council, administrative services for the Association’s officers and operational resources to support Association activities.

Administrative Services

Our administrative services staff coordinates Council meetings and activities, plans the annual meeting, oversees section activities, works with the SDSMA Committee on Ethics and Judicial Affairs, provides administrative support to the SDSMA Alliance and Endowment, and provides executive management services to district and specialty societies.

Advocacy and Legislation

Our legislative staff coordinates SDSMA’s legislative program, lobbies policies adopted by the Council before the South Dakota Legislature, coordinates opportunities for members to get involved through the Doctor of the Day and Physician Lobbyist programs, and the Physician Action Network, and provides staff support for the SDSMA Committee on Legislation and SD.MED.PAC.

Communications

The communication staff helps establish and meet SDSMA’s goals for communicating with its members, the media and the general public.  The staff produces the Association’s monthly journal, South Dakota Medicine, manages the SDSMA Web site, generates positive visibility for SDSMA and its members through media- and public-relations strategies, and works with the SDSMA Communications Committee.

Education and Continuing Medical Education

The SDSMA administers a CME accreditation program for sponsors who produce CME events for physicians in South Dakota.  Medical-education staff fields inquiries about CME standards and accreditation requirements, oversees compliance with accreditation requirements for CME activities, and works with the SDSMA Committee on Medical Education.

Membership Services

Member Services staff coordinates membership recruitment and retention activities, manages member benefits, and responds to member inquiries.  Staff also maintains member files, including application processing, annual dues billing, and updating of biographical records.

Public Health and Quality

The SDSMA focuses on public health, scientific and patient safety issues throughout the state, emphasizing areas in which high-quality medical care and scientific expertise can benefit all South Dakotans.  These issues are handled through the SDSMA Committee on Medical Practice.
